The Treaty of Valetta

This is a treaty between:

THE UNITED KINGDOM and THE KINGDOM OF NAPLES

The terms are as follows:

* The island of Malta shall become a province of the Kingdom of Naples.

* The United Kingdom and the Kingdom of Naples are to agree to a pact of non-aggression.

* British merchant ships have free use of Maltese, and indeed all Neapolitan ports. The reverse is applied.

* The British Navy may use Maltese ports as long as prior warning is given to the Neapolitan authorities, and permission is verified by the High Council of Naples to the British Fleet.

* The Kingdom of Naples is to pay 50 000 Livre to the United Kingdom.

* The United Kingdom and the Kingdom of Naples shall together endeavor to bring good rule, do justice and treat each others citizens in each others nations with the respect of a distinguished ally.
