Objective One:
Your forces have assembled outside of the Prussian city of Stettin. Move north-west to cross the Prussia-Mecklenburg border and move to circle the city of Griefswald.

Note: It is rumoured that the forces of Mecklenburg plan to raid your capital city of Berlin, situated on the border. The source is your own spy network. It may be wise to act on this- bearing in mind that your offensive force designated for this campaign is currently marching from Stettin.

Our initial act shall be to move West-North-West and send outriders towards Berlin and monitor the situation, reporting back on a rotational basis. Travelling on this bearing should make it relatively easy for us to turn and march to Berlin should word come that it is under attack.

Scouts and spies shall also be sent to report more detailed information on the enemy forces, and their location.

As the troops of Mecklenberg assembled themselves and moved south to strike spitefully at Prussia's capital city, the readily-assembled and ever-vigilant Prussian troops moved to intercept them, and thanks to the works of skilfull Prussian generals, arrived in open field battle with the Mecklenbergen troops.

The Mecklenbergen force numbered at half their entire force, with the other half stationed at the two cities. This was good news for the Prussians, as it eliminated the Mecklenbergen defensive advantage. The fighting was fierce, but in the end the Mecklenbergen forces were routed and the day was a Prussian victory.

The Prussians gained land, including more of a buffer around Berlin, and the borders of Mecklenberg receded.

Objective Two:
Now that the invasion force has been repelled, continue with your original plans by advancing onto Griefswald and securing the city within your borders.

Note: Although Mecklenbergs population is considered to be largely apathetic, you may wish to make some form of attempt to win over the hearts of the people.

We shall continue with our previous plan and march on to Griefswald. Along the way, we shall raise above towns and villages the flag of Prussia, and give gifts to the locals, as well as promises of a better life under the Prussian wing.

Towns that accept our prescence are to be rewarded and accepted as members of the the Kingdom of Prussia, whereas those that object to our rule shall be negotiated with, or should it come to such an extreme, put down by force.

The PM entitled "Objective Three - Mecklenburg" and sent on 9th Apr, 2008 at 2:09 said the following:-

Part One: Persuading the Duke
Following the successful integration of Oldenburg into The Austrian Empire, The Emperor shall travel to Rostock with his armies to speak to His Grace, Karl II, Duke of Oldenburg, as the Emperor is travelling towards the Duchy, the following letter is to be sent ahead of him:-

"Your Grace,

Your Grace, I write this letter as a friend and ally from Bremen on eve of my living for Mecklenburg. I understand that time is precious, especially in preparations for war, but please may I take a few moments of your time in order to articulate my thoughts?

As soon as we were able to, Austrian forces have come to the aid of Mecklenburg, as it is important to stand by our friends in their time of need when the Holy Roman Empire is under threat. Our apologies, however, for not getting to you sooner, as it is has only been in the last few weeks that Austria has shared a border with Mecklenburg and thus had direct access to Mecklenburg. But now we have arrived, we believe the strength of the Austrian and Mecklenburger armies will prevail over the treacherous Prussians.

Furthermore, we feel that Prussia - in alliance with the anti-monarchy and anti-religion French Republic - is a rogue state which intends to do grave damage to Mecklenburg, Austria and all those who stand in its way, as has been proven by Prussia's attempt to leave the Holy Roman Empire. This clearly demonstrate its desire to oppose the graciousness of the Holy Roman Empire at every turn, and, indeed, step up its own Empire in opposition to it.

What this does show, unfortunately, is how vulnerable Mecklenburg is as an independent Duchy. We believe that for as long as Mecklenburg is an independent duchy within the Holy Roman Empire, Prussia will attempt to invade, conquer and extinguish it. It is for this reason that we believe that Mecklenburg should become a part of Austria, further strengthening the Holy Roman Empire. Sadly, 40,000 Mecklenburger troops have been murdered by the Prussians - that is a death toll Austria does not want to get larger, and we believe that Prussia would be too scared to attack Mecklenburg should it become a part of Austria.

Within Austria, Mecklenburg would retain your autonomy, but would no longer have to be fearful for the future of your country. Your Grace would have the strength of arms, the strength of wealth and the strength of righteousness to defend Mecklenburg for ever more.

Austria currently enjoys the biggest army in the world, as well as the largest treasury, with very impressive provincial loyalties, incomes and national patriotism. These, along with the strength to defend your people from the tyranny of Prussia, these are all benefits that Your Grace will enjoy.

We offer the same terms as settlement to Your Grace as was offered to the Duchies of Hesse, Oldenburg and Württemberg: 'The Duchy is to be compensated by way of 15,000 Livres'; 'The Mecklenburger Army will fight alongside the Austrians in a separate Regiment'; 'The Income and Treasury of the Duchy of Mecklenburg will be transferred into that of the Austrian Empire's'; 'The Duchy to remain semi-autonomous'; 'The promise from the Austrian Empire that justice will be achieved for our brothers in the HRE'.

Further to above we would like to add another term to the Your Grace: should the Duchy of Mecklenburg become a part of Austria, the Duke will be elevated to the title of Grand Duke in recognition of his valiant efforts against the Prussians, and would therefore be styled as a Royal Highness.

We also have in place a plan for a economic resurgence for Mecklenburg by using its crucial position on the River Warnow as a shipyard, whilst simultaneously promoting the trade in wheat. We further see the University of Rostock - one of the oldest universities in Europe - as crucial to economics of the province so would thus promote the city as a great place of academia.

We would also like to point to the fact that Your Grace served in Hannover and as Governor of Hannover for His Majesty King George III - your brother-in-law- and since then, His Majesty has chosen to entrust the province of Hannover to the Austrian Empire. We also hope that Your Grace may feel some loyalty to the Austrian Empire through your work in Hannover.

The time has come for us to stand together for vengeance, for Mecklenburg, and for Germany!

Part Two: The Defence of Rostock
Hidden on the grounds that at the time this objective was sent I was at war with Prussia and the Treaty of Berlin hadn't been written or discussed. Tactics which were to be used in this war may be used elsewhere in the future so I wish not to post them now.

The terms you have given are very just and fair. They will be considered very thoroughly in my court. I much await your reply when I see you in my court in a few days time

The Emperor shall travel to Rostock via the city of Hamburg, in the recently purchased province of Hanover, where he will make the following speech to the court of Mecklenburg:

"Members of the court!

I have come to you today as a friend and ally to help you from the threat of the Kingdom of Prussia. The Kingdom of Prussia has shown its true colours by choosing to invade its neighbour and fellow state within the Holy Roman Empire.

I am disgusted that the Prussian King has decided to just wantonly attack such a friendly nation on its borders. We will not stand for this and will send every troops to battle and if needs be we will spend every penny piece of our treasury to be used for your defence!

Not only have I come here to personally lead my armies to your defence, but, after talks with His Grace The Duke of Mecklenburg, I also come to you with a proposal for the perpetual defence and prosperity of your realm.

We think, as sobering as this might be, that the Duchy of Mecklenburg is incredibly vulnerable as an independent Duchy and even if we are successful in defending your lands from the Prussians, there are other predators in the world which we might not be so fortunate against.

As such, we think that, akin to the Duchies of Hesse, Oldenburg and Württemberg, the Duchy of Mecklenburg should enjoy the economic and defensive benefits of the Austrian Empire. You need only to look at the increase in the incomes and loyalties of those three provinces to see that this is not a one-way street but that the Empire is very much committed to investing its people so they become richer, more prosperous, and generally happier.

Furthermore, in recognition of Mecklenburgers' and His Grace's valiant attempts at fighting off the threat of the Prussians, I would also use my power to elevate His Grace to a Grand Duke and thus giving him, and Mecklenburg as a whole, greater status and prestige.

This is not just about defence and prestige, however, and what the Emperor is also keen to do is implement economic reforms to the Duchy of Mecklenburg in order to create greater wealth for the country. In particular, we wish to invest in the agriculturally important wheat industry, the academic centre of Rostock, and in furthering Mecklenburg's economic power over the waves by giving money to the expansion of your ports.

None of these are idle arguments, they are genuine promises which we will fulfil. I bid you now, listen to everything I today here have said, and unite with me in defiance of the Prussia, for Mecklenburg and for Germany!"


In combination with the above speech, the Emperor will circle gifts around the court to the value of 4,000 Livre, as well as presenting all the members with copies of the letter previously sent to His Grace, The Duke of Mecklenburg for their consideration.

The Emperor also intends to have an audience with His Grace in order to re-affirm his commitments previously mentioned in the letter as well to outline joint plans for the defence of Mecklenburg.
