No, this isn't a thread about starting it on Apoca...what with the lack of modern music, television, sound recording ability...etc  I was just wondering what your thoughts were. Is it a spectacular showpiece that unites the whole of Europe under a fantastic, dazzling show? Or is it a pathetic waste of time, with political voting, awful songs and general cheesyness? Thoughts please. |

I've never understood that...but they can be politically/geographically located in Europe on some maps. For example, Turkey are also in the contest, along with Cyprus...

Eurovision has nothing to do with the EU though, it's just a contest that includes people from Europe. How exactly does a contest that involves countries competing against each other encourage unity? A copntest which placed Europeans against people from other continents might encourage unity, but Eurovision certainly does not. Anyway, it's terrible regardless of the politics involved.

Europe in my opinion is the way forward, I love it. I'm all for full integration, all the diverse cultures and peoples - if we could close the gap between little England and Europe, the world would be a better place in my opinion. It's either America, or Europe, and despite not having any misgivings about America, we're closer to Europe, and I know more about them. Eurovision rocks! Me and my mate Sam Warren (Old South Africa) always judge the contestants in a different way to the norm... Also, Israel are in it becuase they are excluded from many Asian events on the grounds that many Asian countries don't recognise them as a state, becuase of Palestine, and us kicking them out and such. |

Personally Eurovision is a waste of time... You can immediately tell that the Baltic States will vote for each other, regardless of how good any entry is.

Eurovision is a total Joke, the songs produced are awful. Why do you think I watch it? It gives us all a good laugh even though in retrospect it's crap.

I absolutely loathe the political voting, like Latvia for Lithuania, Estonia for Latvia, Cyprus for Greece...etcetera. Sam Warren doesn't seem the type to like Eurovision, Tom. Lol. I think this year, the UK will either do very well, or miserable. I like the song that's gone in, I must admit  |

I love Eurovision! I love listening to Terry Wogan's comments; I love listening to the crappy songs in Serbian; and I just love guessing who countries are going to to vote for "And 12 points from Sweden go to.... Norway!".

no thx for the song, I hate most pop music, it gets on my nerves. I think the only piece I actually like is a piece by the 1970s/80s band Dschengis-Kahn called Moscau.

Other countries hate the fact that not very many in the UK take it seriously, they sometimes take it as a massive all out deciding event, we just look on it as a joke.
